who ate the Lunch special w/ Chester chicken on Thursday, November 29, 2007
I'll be the first to admit that my last experience here was ridiculously horrible. I tend not to go back to places with pooooooor customer service. I seriously waited 5-10 minutes up front before the waitress (who was sitting talking with her friends) decided to get up and help me - where I proceeded to walk out and eat at my favorite restaurant, Dixie Grill.

Fast forward a year and the wait staff is still shabby - it's a shame because the food is actually pretty good; scratch that, really good. I ate the lunch special with the "Chester" chicken which sorta kinda reminded me of a grade-school joke "Chester molester", but I'll save that for another time - I'd love to hear the marketing ploy behind that special. In any case, the chicken was grinds and they gave quite a random assortment of food. Since I ate here on a Thursday, it was a downtown crowd... you know, khakis and aloha shirts abound. Sorta reminds me of a Macy's model fest, but without the models.

who ate the Hamachi, Salmon, Ikura, Saba, Ahi, Ahi Natto on Friday, November 16, 2007
Recently opened restaurant in Kaneohe, serving Japanese food and sushi. Small place, maybe 8 tables. Similar menu and dish setup to Mr. Ojisan on Kapahulu, but way cheaper. The sushi is the BEST in Kaneohe. They give really healthy sizes for only 3 or 4 bucks! Best saba I've had in a while. I don't know where they get it from, but its not the usual frozen crap. You can definitely fill up for cheap here. We felt it was highway robbery. Erin had a set dinner, and I had a la carte sushi, coming out under $40 I think. Quality of the cooking is great, good flavors. BYOB. After the meal, they give you a couple pieces of pineapple as petit fours. Only complaint: they were playing Christian music when we were there, total downer.

who ate the ahi poke, ahi pizza, chicken wings on Friday, November 16, 2007
New restaurant/bar at Bay View Golf Park, opened 11/16/07. Owned and operated by former executive chef of Tsukiji Fish Market in Ala Moana. Basic local food, very good prices. The quality of fish is excellent--very fresh and tasty. Specialties are ahi pizza and teri chicken. The ahi pizza is great. It is very light, with blackened ahi on a crispy tortilla and no pizza sauce. Many TVs, great hangout for UH games and Monday night games! I recommend this place to get a cheap meal, or to eat pupus and relax.

who ate the fish tacos on Friday, November 2, 2007
Finally, there's a Mexican restaurant in Hawaii worth going to more than once. Having grown up in SE Texas, I've grown critical of 'Tex-Mex' food available in Hawaii. Tio's was a very pleasant surprise.
The food was very good (especially the chips & salsa), and very inexpensive!
Recommended : Beer Battered fish tacos

who ate the Korean BBQ short ribs on Saturday, November 10, 2007
Yakiniku Seoul has been my favorite Korea restaurant for many reasons.. great service and great food. The waitresses are extremely friendly and always looking for ways to help customers.. like filling up empty side dishes..
The quality of meat for yakiniku is wonderful and you get many side dishes that are very tasty. If you are looking for a yakiniku experience, I strongly recommend this restaurant.
