Sister restaurant to Formaggio Wine Bar in town. This location features food over wine.
They don't take reservations, so we waited 45 minutes... but it was worth it! They announce that their food comes out as it is ready, and they encourage sharing and family-style eating. The atmosphere and ambiance is modern and stylish. I overheard someone saying, "This doesn't look like Kailua, this looks like OC." They pride themselves in their wine selection. A whole wall of wine is on display. A partially open kitchen is an interesting feature.
The food was awesome. Not hardcore Italian food, but a combination of Mexican, Asian, Italian, and American. Portions are perfect. Not too big, just the right size for ordering a whole bunch of items. The foie gras was cooked perfectly. The flavors of the port wine reduction and apples and onions went together spectacularly.
The ceviche I had came in a cocktail/martini glass. I wasn't a fan of this presentation because all the liquid goes to the bottom. You end up with dry food at the top and soaking food at the bottom.
Overall, I would return. It isn't somewhere to go every day, due to the price and wait. But a fun place to hang out and eat good food and have drinks.
